Andrea Zintz, Ph.D., President

Andrea Zintz, Ph.D., PresidentAndrea Zintz, PhD, is a Senior Fellow of The Courage Institute International and is the Managing Director of Strategic Leadership Resources, the consulting consortium which co-ordinates and oversees large-scale leadership and organization development assignments.

As President of Strategic Leadership Resources LLC (SLR), Andrea specializes in executive and high potential leadership strategy, succession and development. She has over 30 years experience in Leadership Development, Change Management, Human Resources Development and Training. Prior to joining SLR, Andrea was Sr VP of PulvermacherFirth, VP of Hudson Talent Management, and co-founder of the Center for Inquiring Leadership, a training company for leadership effectiveness. During this time she designed and executed landmark work in the development of internal coaches within major companies.

Andrea cultivated her experiences as an executive coach, the development of executives and hi-potential leaders, and in talent and change management within the diversified healthcare and pharmaceutical, defense, and retail industries. As VP of Human Resources and Management Board member of the Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, Ortho Biotech, Inc., Andrea helped lead the growth of the company from $40 million to $500 million in a 6-year period, and launched 2 breakthrough biotech products that lead the market today. She also led executive leadership development for North America from J&J Corporate. During her tenure at J&J she was highly awarded for her work in cultural, HR and leadership development, where her special interests included executive women advancement, diversity, and mentoring. She has been trained as a Black Belt at part of the J&J Process Excellence effort and is an examiner and team leader for the Competitive Assessment Process at J&J.

She is also a recipient of the YWCA Tribute to Women in Industry Award. A special expertise is in the area of mentoring in which she focused her doctoral dissertation and has designed and implemented various programs.

Andrea currently works primarily with senior leaders and leadership teams in business units of Fortune 500 corporations to develop high potential and senior leaders through team alignment/development strategies and coaching. Her strategic focus in this work is the development of a strong leadership pipeline. She has deep expertise in training Human Resources and line leaders to coach, teach and mentor others.

Andrea earned her PhD at Fielding Graduate University and is a member of the National OD Networks.

Charles Jones, Research & Development

Charles Jones, Research & DevelopmentA lifelong student of human nature, Charles began taking psychology courses at a nearby university while still in high school. Upon graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Philosophy of Mind, Charles continued his study of human nature, spending a considerable amount of his time with cutting-edge thinkers in the ontology of language, embodied learning, psychosocial development, motivation, and attention.

In parallel with his ongoing study of human nature, Charles has worked as a consultant and coach in the areas of collaboration, leadership, and organizational culture change in Fortune 500 companies such as Capital One, Citibank, GE, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, JPMorgan Chase, Motorola, Pfizer, and Sanofi-Aventis. Articles on his innovative approaches have appeared in Fortune Magazine, The Economist, and Leadership Excellence.

Merom Klein, Ph.D., Founder and Sr. Partner of The Courage InstituteAn internationally recognized authority on courage and luminous efficiency to accelerate strategy execution, Merom has 30 years of experience in executive coaching, executive and leadership team development, leadership training and keynote speaking, all these across the US and Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. His expertise includes organizational culture and individual developmental executive assessments, team mobilization, and working closely with executive groups and with cross-functional scientific teams and collaboration partners to achieve breakthrough advances.

Prior to joining Strategic Leadership Resources, Merom was founder and senior partner of The Courage Institute and Key Management Strategies, and was adjunct faculty at Temple University. His clients have included JnJ, ARAMARK, Abbott, Medgenics, GE Healthcare, ArQule, Rafa”el, and the MRC-T.

Merom has a Doctoral degree in organizational psychology. He is co-author of The Courage to Act (Nicholas Brealey, US and UK), which describes the 5 Courage Factors that leaders instill in teams to boost their luminous efficiency and transform aspirational thinking into practical reality.

Louise (Yochee) Klein, Psy.D., Co-Founder and Senior Partner of The Courage InstituteAn internationally recognized authority on courage and luminous efficiency to lift the impact of scientific, engineering and technical standouts, Louise has 15 years of experience in executive coaching with CSOs, CTOs, CFOs, COOs, PMOs and CEOs, team mobilization for project leaders orchestrating complex initiatives and has presented keynotes for technical leaders across the US and Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Her expertise includes individual developmental executive assessments, team mobilization, and working closely with collaboration partners, at all levels, to boost their influence, strengthen accountability and achieve breakthrough advances.

Prior to joining Strategic Leadership Resources, Louise was a psychologist in private practice, was co-founder and senior partner of The Courage Institute and the Jerusalem Leadership Institute and was adjunct faculty at Haifa University and Chestnut Hill College. Her clients have included Millennium, IBM, Regence, ITI, Abbott, Alnylam, Predix and JnJ.

Louise has a Doctoral degree in clinical psychology. She is co-author of the forthcoming book, The Courage to Lead: Unlocking the Potential of Luminaries, Laggards and Linkers, which describes the courage required to create dynamic tension in strategic alliances, executive and scientific teams.

Whit Raymond, Senior Consultant

Whit Raymond, Senior ConsultantWhit Raymond is a high impact advisor and strategic leadership coach to senior executives and teams. He has worked with a diverse group of large and small corporations for over 20 years and is a skilled facilitator of large and small groups, a coach to individuals and teams, and designer and deliverer of highly engaging training programs. Whit assists executives in translating organizational and leadership needs into effective solutions, and then organizes innovative leadership programs and initiatives that engage leaders collectively in implementing those solutions. He also develops the leadership at multiple levels while working on strategically important organizational and business projects. Whit is trained and certified in a number of instruments that he uses selectively with individuals and groups to provide specific kinds of insight and perspective so they may function more effectively.

Most recently, Whit served as Director of Organization Development at Merrill Lynch in both the corporate and retail units. Whit advised senior executives on strategic solutions to critical organizational needs and often served as a confidante and coach. He also designed and delivered numerous top-rated management and leadership development programs. Last, he led the firm’s executive coaching program. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Whit was a partner of LodeStar Associates, Inc., providing leadership, team and strategic organizational development, and executive coaching, to both large and medium-sized corporations. Earlier in his career, Whit was Vice President and one of two thought-leaders at the Princeton Center for Leadership Training, and was employed as Senior Organizational Effectiveness consultant at Cummins Engine Company.

Whit holds a BA degree from Bowdoin College where he played on two ECAC championship hockey teams. He received his M.Ed. at Lesley University, where he focused on group dynamics and leadership. Whit lives in Jersey City, NJ and Saratoga Springs, NY.

Edie Commodaro, Senior Consultant

Edie Commodaro, Senior ConsultantEdie is an executive and career coach as well as deeply experienced HR consultant and facilitator. She coaches executives in the private sector and brings over 25 years of executive experience in Human Resources, starting her career with Bell Laboratories and continuing it with Johnson & Johnson. Edie began her career in the talent acquisition area, recruiting highly sought-after scientists for senior positions in research and development. She subsequently expanded her expertise to include training in organizational development, policy development and deployment, talent management, leadership training and organizational effectiveness.

Working in both the Consumer and Pharmaceutical sectors of Johnson & Johnson, Edie has held positions of significant breadth and responsibility. She has worked as the Senior Human Resources Business Partner to the Executive Management of several divisions, sitting on the Management Boards of the Johnson & Johnson Sales and Logistics Company, The Johnson & Johnson Baby Company and the Global Leadership Teams in both the Finance and R&D divisions of the Organization. She has led the human resources activities supporting significant change initiatives within the Consumer Sales divisions involving the consolidation of internal Sales forces as well as integrating the Sales organization of the largest acquisition made by the Corporation.

Edie is Certified Executive Coach through the Pennsylvania State University Smeal College of Business in the Sherpa coaching model. She holds a degree from Fairfield University. She has trained with Marshall Goldsmith as well as with the Center for Creative Leadership on 360 degree feedback coaching. In addition to being a graduate of Cornell University’s ILR Executive Education Program, she has delivered numerous programs within Johnson & Johnson, and has trained with Judith Colemon and Brenda Corbett, authors of “The Sherpa Guide: Process-Driven Executive Coaching.”

Bari Waxman, M.Sc., Senior Consultant

Bari Waxman, M.Sc., Senior ConsultantBari specializes in coaching executives to build leadership capability. She also has broad experience in developing and implementing talent strategies, leadership development programs and strategy facilitation to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Bari was Senior Vice President, PulvermacherFirth and spent 18 years at the financial services firm Morgan Stanley. During her career at Morgan Stanley, Bari held a variety of leadership roles in both New York and London, including in Learning and Development and HR, leading global teams in partnership with the Finance, Operations and IT organizations to design and implement learning and OD programs aligned with business goals. Most recently, Bari held the role of COO for the CFO and the global Finance organization. In this role, she coached the firm’s key Finance leaders in addressing strategic business challenges and leadership practices. Bari has been instrumental in developing women leaders and was part of the senior women committee that established the Annual Women’s Leadership Conferences and Speaker Series for high potential women leaders.

Bari has an undergraduate degree in Business from SUNY, Albany and a Masters degree in Organizational Behavior from Birkbeck College, University of London. She is a Certified Executive Coach from the ICoach New York program affiliated with the Zicklin Business School. Other certifications are in MBTI, CCL Benchmarks, MRG LEA and SPA assessment tools.

Edana Desatnick, Senior Consultant

Edana Desatnick, Senior ConsultantEdana is a leadership and organization development consultant and executive coach, and has broad experience in the professional services, consumer, healthcare and industrial products industries. Edana provides strategic HR, talent planning, organization development, strategy, executive coaching, culture, change management and leadership consulting to major corporations/ partnerships.

Prior to beginning her own strategy, leadership/talent and OD consulting practice, she had worldwide responsibility for corporate Organization Development at Merck. In that capacity, she had responsibility for global leadership/talent planning, performance management and development, and led consulting/coaching to the senior management team on issues of culture, change leadership and organizational effectiveness. Prior to joining Merck, Edana was Vice President of Organization Development at Honeywell, providing OD leadership in the merger integration of the AlliedSignal and Honeywell organizations. She has also served as Senior Director of Organization Development at Nabisco Brands and at Pepsi prior to that. She began her career in OD/strategy as a member of Coopers & Lybrand’s global strategy consulting practice.

In the area of non-profit, Edana provides her Leadership/OD experience and plays leadership roles on a number of non-profit boards including Matheny Medical and Educational Center and the Arc (the largest non profit serving persons with developmental disabilities) in their Government Legislative and Policy setting work.

Edana holds a M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in economics from Tulane University.

Joe Dougherty, Senior Consultant

Joe Dougherty, Senior ConsultantJoe serves a wide variety of clients in telecommunications, manufacturing, healthcare and government, specializing in facilitating business planning and strategy, executive team development and alignment, leadership development, and executive coaching. Since 1998, Joe has conducted global leadership development initiatives for one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies. This involved working with divisions of these business units in England, Spain, France, Italy, China, Brazil, Poland, Argentina and Singapore as well as in all of the U.S. locations.

Through his distinguished academic career, Joe has served as Director of Continuing Studies, Wesley College and Dean of Continuing Studies, York College, Vice President, De Sales University, as well as Chairperson of the English Department at Wesley College.

Gerry Pulvermacher, Ph.D., President, Gerald Pulvermacher & AssociatesGerry brings 38 years of consulting experience in the areas of Enterprise Change, Strategy Facilitation, Executive and Executive Team Development, Executive Alignment, Leadership Development Planning and Implementation, and Strategic Change Leadership. He has worked with numerous public and private sector organizations throughout North America, Europe and the Caribbean.

Gerry was Managing Partner of Pulvermacher, Stevens and Shack (Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Calgary) and subsequently spent 8 years as both Partner and Global Practice Director for Strategic Change, Leadership Development, Learning, and Organization Performance at Deloitte Consulting.

Gerry was asked to create the design and train the Facilitators at the 2002 World Economic Forum in NYC. Additionally, on behalf of Deloitte Consulting, Gerry managed the development of “The Heart of Change”, co-authored by John Kotter and Dan Cohen and published by Harvard Business Press (2002). He has had articles appear in Executive Talent, Computerworld, Canadian Government Executive and The Deal. Gerry was also on the faculty of Queen’s University Executive Development Program from 1985-1991 and was a member of Harvard Business School’s Think Tank on “Breaking the Code of Change”. MacLean’s magazine characterized Gerry as one of Canada’s management “gurus”.

Gerry holds a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, and has practiced in the Industrial/Organizational Psychology arena, exclusively, since 1981. He has held Board positions on several not-for-profit organizations.
